How to convert area

Area units are squares of length units, so the factors are squared too. A foot is 0.3048 m, so a square foot is 0.3048² = 0.09290304 m². A square metre is about 10.7639 sq ft. An acre is 43,560 sq ft (4,046.86 m²), and a hectare is 10,000 m², about 2.471 acres.

The bigha, biswa and katha vary from state to state, and sometimes from district to district: a bigha ranges from about 14,400 to 27,000 sq ft or more. They are not included, so check the local value with the land records office. Marla sizes also vary: some areas use 225 sq ft.
