Remove Line Breaks

Remove unwanted line breaks from text copied from PDFs, emails or websites. You can keep paragraph breaks, choose what replaces each break, and fix words split with a hyphen at the end of a line.

When you need this

Text copied from a PDF, an old email or a terminal usually has a hard line break at the end of every line. When you paste it into Word, WhatsApp or a web form, the lines break in the wrong places. This tool joins the lines back into proper paragraphs.

  • Keep paragraphs: blank lines between paragraphs are kept, and only single line breaks inside a paragraph are joined.
  • Fix hyphenated words: joins words such as “calcu-
lator” that were split across two lines.
  • Replace with: a space (default), nothing, a comma, or any text you choose. This is handy for turning a column of values into a comma-separated list.

Frequently asked questions

How do I turn a list into comma-separated values?

Paste the list, set “Replace with” to “Comma + space”, and untick “Keep paragraph breaks”. Each line becomes one item in a single comma-separated line.

Will it remove spaces too?

Only the extra spaces created by joining lines are tidied up. Use the Remove Extra Spaces tool for more cleaning.
