Sort Text & Lines

Sort lines, words or comma-separated items alphabetically, numerically, naturally (so item2 comes before item10), or by length. You can also reverse or randomly shuffle a list and remove duplicates.

Sort orders

  • Alphabetical (A–Z / Z–A): dictionary order that ignores case, so “apple” and “Apple” sit together.
  • Natural: numbers inside text are compared as numbers, so “Chapter 2” comes before “Chapter 10”, and “File9” before “File10”.
  • Numeric: sorts by the number in each line. Indian-style numbers with commas, such as 1,25,000, are understood.
  • By length: shortest or longest first. Shuffle: a random order using a cryptographically secure random generator, fair for draws and seating plans.

Frequently asked questions

How do I sort numbers correctly?

Choose “Numeric (small → large)”. Plain alphabetical sorting would put 100 before 20, because it compares character by character.

Can I sort words in a sentence?

Yes. Set “Items are” to “Words”, and every word is sorted and joined back with spaces.
