What makes a good URL slug
- Lower case, with words separated by hyphens. Google treats hyphens as word separators but joins words linked by underscores.
- Short and descriptive: 3–6 meaningful words. Removing stop words such as “a”, “the” and “of” helps.
- Only letters, numbers and hyphens. Accented letters become plain ones (é becomes e), and symbols such as & and % are removed or spelled out.
